Tuesdays 6pm-7:30pm
Thursdays 6pm-7:30pm

This course focuses on personal essay writing, incorporating personal narrative and personal memoir, and emphasizing writing as a process of pre-writing techniques and strategies to organize ideas, drafting and composing, peer editing, revising, proofreading and editing, and publishing to help students express personal experiences clearly in logical and meaningful essays. Assignments and class discussions affirm the relevance of writing skills to students’ academic, occupational, public, and/or personal lives. The course provides opportunities to develop confidence, competence, and fluency through practice in the writing process, and concentrates exclusively on the skills needed to make the writing process easier and the resulting creative nonfiction more effective.

This class is offered to the students of the East Hartford's Adult Education Credit Diploma Program for .5 credits toward an East Hartford High School diploma. The class meets from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The session will run from March 12 until May 24.
